So, first off, I decided to mix up stuff in my journal a bit and changed the colours. My unrequited love affair with purples and violets had to end at some point xD After two or so years anyone would have enough even of their fav colour (and violet is mine). The colours I'm using now sort of resemble chocolate, and that's always a good thing ;) So, let's have a poll! :D I never made one, and I always wanted to check out how they work.
Poll New colour scheme Well, this year I feel pretty accomplished. Last year I wrote an Aladdin (1992) fic for yuletide. It was my first actual published and finished fic ever, so of course I still am quite fond of it (even with all its flaws). Aladdin is also just about my oldest fandom; I've been in it ever since I was four xD I've seen the movie countless times, and it pretty much formed my taste in cinema :D The story itself, though, was pretty rushed, and it also showed my lack of experience in writing dialogue. It has hardly any xD I never posted a link to the fic here, as during Christmas I'm always traveling back and forth like crazy, and never had the time to do it. So, you can read it here:

I can't post the fic I wrote this year until the reveal, so I'll link to it in a later post. I just wanted to say, that I'm much happier with what I wrote this year. I managed to work it quite well into the canon (it's a missing scenes sort of a story), and, gasp!, the characters actually talk and do things, instead of just ranting inwardly about things. Not that "A's thoughts on B" is less worthy sort of story type, but for ME it was an escape and way to cower out of challenging myself and going for something out of my comfort zone. As I said, ranting is easy for me, with the amount of essays and reviews I have to write for my literature and practical English classes, but writing a narrative is something we rarely do. Well, the above said story is still, by no means, a masterpiece, but it is a step forward. The experience from it should be useful for my Inception/Bleach crossover, which I offered to write for the kink meme, have been stuck after about 500 words for about 3 months now...
And now to the lovely gifts I got for yuletide this and last year:
2010: Many More Adventures - a Howl's Moving Castle fic, about Sophie's and Howl's relationship after the first book. It's sweet and adorable, but has its moments of thoughtfulness as well. It's also very in character and resembles the style of the source quite remarkably.
http://archiveofourown.org/works/140845 2009: Making a Beginning - a Mr. and Mrs. Iyer fic. Meenakshi's life post film. Some things end, but life goes on. Very thoughtful and moving. It was written by an Indian author, and thus features some interesting insight into the culture.

architectsgifts present, written by
rei17 (visit her fic journal
coffee_shock, she writes both in English and in German). The exchange was done to popularize fiction for Cobb/Ariadne. The fans of this pairing are talented, kind and amazing, and basically working their asses off to get the ship noticed. It's a small corner of the Inception fandom, but an awesome one :) What amuses me to no end, though, is me having watched the most popular movie of the year, one that has a gigantic fandom with tons of fic... but still managing to get into shipping a pairing which turned out to be so rare. That's how I roll, I guess, being in tiny fandoms is a way of life for me. The funniest part is, that after watching the film, I felt that Cobb/Ariadne were basically canon and everyone would see it that way. I really saw strong evidence of it in the film... Heh.
Well, now to the fic itself. You can read it here:
http://community.livejournal.com/coffee_shock/33739.html It was written for a prompt of mine, in which Eames plays matchmaker to Cobb and Ariadne, and also ropes Arthur into it (so there's some slight Eames/Arthur as well). It's funny and adorable, and full of lovable details. The psychological aspects of getting into a new relationship after heartbreak, are also shown well. Also Eames and Arthur are my second Inception OTP, and I love them here. Eames and Ariadne are my third Inception OTP, but I love them as a BROTP as well, so this prompt getting filled in such a way made me very happy :D
I'll post what I wrote for the exchange later. Beware of it's fluffiness. It's basically Christmas crack. With heppi!Cobb... And mentions of Tangled. Which gets us into another fandom I'm in...
So, yes, I managed to get into another fandom just before the end of the year. Yes, I'm that good. I'm already up my ears in Bollywood (nine million films I should review, articles I should translate into Polish, icons for obscure films nobody watches :P I should make, fics I should write, because even for the popular films there are, like none :/), manga an anime (shit-load of Hayao Miyazaki films to watch, catching up on Bleach and Gintama - both the animes and the mangas, progressing further than the fourth episode of Darker Than Black, buying the Evangelion film, which, gasp!, has been released in Poland on BR, with an Asuka in a gothic lolita dress figure!!! - of course I have no money... :/) and figure skating (a ton of stuff to watch and icons to make) and Robin of Sherwood (an old TV series I loved as a kid, but got into the fandom just last month)... but now there's Tangled! And now concentrating on my academic work will be even harder. How am I supposed to focus on writing dissertations, when fics are what writes itself in my head... Yeah, hard times xD
OK, so this post is already WAY to long, so my thoughts on Tangled will come in another one.
