"Quick! This way!" Rerun's voice echoed throughout the apartment building, and it took Linus all of two seconds to follow his voice. It was hard to keep his head on straight when it was obvious the world was coming to a complete end, but what could he do? He wasn't going to curl up in a little ball and watch as zombies took over. Instead, he grabbed onto Sally's hand and pulled her along. She was sobbing hysterically and was beyond incolsolable. That being said, at least she'd had the good sense to put on her white shoes, and pack a bag with supplies. He had no idea they were so well prepared in their house.
Pausing only to place a kiss on her forehead, they ran towards his brother's voice, which was calling out to them with increased urgency. "Should we really be leaving the apartment building," Linus asked, slighly worried. "I mean, how could they get up here?" Whatever they were. He was refusing to think
His brother didn't answer him at first. Intsead, he reached into his jacket and pulled out a gun that Linus had never seen before. "We need to keep moving. Our best bet is a single bullet to the brain." With a precision that shocked Linus, Rerun proceeded to load the pistol before putting it back into his jacket. "Stick with me. I've watched enough Resident Evil to know exactly what to do."
"I thought those were rabies infected people?" Lucy's voice trembled as she hurried to catch her breath.
Rerun shot her an annoyed look. "That was 28 days later. And 12 monkeys. Right? 12 monkeys had rabies people."
"They had lose animals, not rabies. Did they? I didn't watch, I covered my eyes anyways."
"Enough!" Schroeder, who up until this moment had been quiet, had finally lost his cool. "There are zombies out there, and you're discussing movies? Idiots."
Linus had to agree. "So what do we do?" They'd finally stopped behind the building and the alley was looking less and less safe.
His brother mulled it over before thinking. "We head north. If this truly is the end of the world, there's only one thing that will kill zombies: the cold, and nothing is colder than Canada." They all nodded sagely at this and started to move again.
"Linus," Lucy sobbed, holding tightly to his hand. "Linus, are you there? Linus?" He turned to look at her quizzically and her face faded away, melding into that of his principal's. "Linus. The meeting ended five minutes ago. Where the hell was your mind?"
He cleared his throat and sat up in his chair. Looking around, he groaned as the familiar sight of the staff room came into focus. "Um. Zombies, Fred." He gave a crooked smile.
Fred returned the smile with a confused look of his own. "Of course. Zombies. Right. Well. Go, before I wonder why I hired you in the first place."
"Yes sir." He jumped out of his seat and headed towards his office. Clearly, he'd been spending too much time with his brother lately. That, of course didn't stop him from texting Rerun: "Antarctica is colder than Canada". It didn't matter if his brother would understand or not -- he would.
