Wow Ray, did you eat too much cheese this morning or had a bad Thai meal? Take your pills and settle down. You know I was just as happy as you were when Cat was given the old Cuban necktie at Chateau De' Frey, but my joy was soon crushed when Thoros and that damn R'hllor brought her back. Not only did they bring her back, she can barely talk, so now we have even more italics, more of Cat's deep thoughts. But I have to say, it is going to be so sweet, when she finds out (hopefully as she is about to be trampled by a charging destrier) that Jon Snow is not Ned's bastard. Oh, Ned, why did you keep this from me? Why could you not trust me? What have I done? That poor boy. Why did I not see it myself? And then......crunch, trampled...dead. Fantastic.
You know, as much as certain characters annoy me, it probably bugs me the most at how naive and unaware some of these people in charge really are. Poster
zweihand had a great line calling Ned's alignment lawful/stupid or stupid/good. Absolutely perfect. The Lannisters are known deceivers, always vying for power, so what does Jon Arryn do when he discovers the truth? Nothing really, other than tell Lysa. I'm sure he meant to tell Stannis or Robert, but he just played the part of old man walking into the lion's den with no armor or weapon. I mean really, if there is this big conspiracy in the kingdom involving Cersei (one of the realm's most powerful women), and Jaime (one of the realm's best warriors) and you have this info, don't you hightail it back to the Eyrie? Or at least contact Ned? Stannis? Renly? Surround yourself with sweet bodyguards? Knowing that if you hang around someone may try to kill you, whether it is your own unstable wife or not? And this guy was Hand to the king?
And then there is my guy Ned. Discovers the same things as Jon Arryn. He knows about Cat's letter from Lysa saying Cersei murdered Jon Arryn. He knows someone tried to take out Bran. He has his confrontation with Jaime. So after all this, the dumb-ass confronts Cersei, the biggest snake and biggest culprit in this conspiracy, and puts his trust in Petyr, whom he doesn't trust and knows hates him. Genius. Renly was at least smart enough to bolt.
