I'm lazy so I'm just gonna copy and paste this from an update email...

Well,
I had been hoping to go and visit Boston the first weekend of October, but when I sat down to work out the finances of a visit, I realized that I had completely forgotten that I have classes coming up that I need to get books and supplies for.

I also forgot the fact that I have to eat for the next two weeks.

In other news, for those of you who are wondering what I've been up to, I recently attended a Greek festival in L.A. and ate an obscene amount of Greek food. Tom Hanks was supposedly there, but I had my blinders on for moussaka and loukoumades. Heck, he may have one of the people to hand me my loukoumades, but I am nothing if not focused when sweets are involved.
It was hosted by this Greek Orthodox church called St. Sophia, and they were offering tours of the church on the hour. It was beautiful!

As for the general everyday things, I spend my days watching episodes of "Transformers:Beastwars" on Netflix, reading tons of (comic) books from the library, baking bread, crushing hundreds of ants with my bare hands (my apartment is being fumigated today), taking walks, gabbing with people on the east coast, going to farmers' markets (there are 4 in Santa Monica alone), watching the giant pillars of smoke rise into the heavens as the periphery of L.A. burns in a great conflagration, and trying to meet people out here. To that end I've joined a few groups on Meetup.com, three for comic books (Oh my God, I really am a huge dork!) and one for girly feminists who like to wear bright red lipstick and cause trouble.

Work is going well, though I have been having trouble with one of the professors I support. We don't seem to be communicating very well, and are often embroiled in these "I said this," "No, you said this.", "No, no I didn't"-type conversations. And just when I think I've had enough of her, she does something incredibly nice, like going on vacation. And then while she's gone I accidentally kill all the plants in her office.

Concerning events in the near future, my sister is moving out here on October 1st with her friend M., and they're going to be staying with me until they find an apartment. On the one hand this means I can't do house chores, make breakfast, or workout to bellydance DVDs in the nude anymore, but on the other hand I get to pal around L.A. with my sis and get into all sorts of shenanigans!

As I mentioned before, I also start my classes next week in drawing and comic book writing. I'm also attending a separate, one-day workshop for making comic books next week on Tuesday, hosted by this non-profit that occasionally holds these kinds of creative writing events. Again, I'm a huge nerd.

Aaaand, in case you haven't picked up on my excitement around here for the last month, I'm going to see "Jennifer's Body," this weekend! It's a family-friendly tale of hope and the triumph of the human spirit, wherein our heroine, played by the amazing Megan Fox, becomes a demon and starts killing and eating all the boys in her high school. You guys, I've never been so excited for anything in my life!
(Except for that movie "Teeth," where this girl's vagina has teeth that devour boys in her high school, or that other movie "Ginger Snaps," where this girl turns into a werewolf and starts killing and eat-hey, wait...)

Also, I've decided to start a new blog, hopefully a much more positive, not quite so personal blog (though there will still be some of that), with the focus being on my creative pursuits, including my photography. I'm hoping it can be a tool to keep me motivated, and reach out to other dorks like myself. I'll let you know when it's up and running so I can badger all of you into reading it, and then later on when I ask you if you've read it you can be all awkward and say, "Oh, right. Your blog. Sure. I read it. It was, erm, great. I really liked the part where you...talked about...stuff."

I'll still update my LJ (where would I be without a venue to bitch and moan?), so you're not rid of me yet!

Peace out, kittens.

P.S. The wonderful helsha , in response to my fan-gasming over Universal Hall Pass, pointed me in the direction of Splashdown, and I'm loving them. Favorite songs so far: Lost Frontier, Waterbead, Dig, Karma Slave and Ironspy. You can find them on the end of my playlist here.
