God, what have I being doing?
For all of 2012 thus far, my Livejournal has been restricted to just reading other people's posts and occasionally commenting, while hardly posting myself. I really need to start posting some worthwhile posts if I want to get some comments on my posts.
So here goes:
Recently I saw this again in 3D. It felt special to me, if only because it was my first Star Wars film in theaters. The 3D wasn't bad for a post-conversion, although it didn't drastically improve the film.
I know a lot of people can't stand the prequels. But I do like the Phantom Menace. Granted, it does have problems, but they can be summed up to four things:
1. Jar Jar. While I don't find him as annoying as most people, he is still annoying.
2. Young Anakin's acting. Even for a young child, it was really bad. Thankfully, you can forget it as your watching it if you so choose.
3. The various politics. It's not Star Wars. It doesn't make the movie any worse really, unlike in Attack Of The Clones.
4. A lagging middle. Some parts here and there on Tatooine and on Coruscant drag a little. Again, though, not nearly as much of a problem as in Clones, mind.
But the movie's good moments topple out the weak ones. Almost everything else in the film in great, as is everything that happens in Naboo. The battle droids, particularly the Droidekas, are awesome. The climax that alternates between four separate battles is great to watch. And Darth Maul... even though he's only in the film for 10 minutes, he makes it worth watching. And the visuals are still awesome, making it a treasure trove of eye candy even during the film's weaker moments. It gets a 7.5/10 from yours truly. What do you all think about Menace?
You fellas been up to much else recently? I'm just ploughing my way through 5th Year, while still trying my hardest to write where I can. Not an easy task, mind you, but I'm trying. All through this school year, I'll be honest, fanfiction has been slow, with the monthly drabbles over at the PPG_HUB the only consistent thing. A school choir trip to Boston is coming up too, leaving next Wednesday. That should be good fun!
