Well, my wife and I adopted a 4 year old yellow Labrador from the local animal shelter. A very tame BIG female dog named Brandi who loves and protects my kids without question. Since our last dog died, we've missed having a dog. I love the dog but I am also relieved that her early warning barks can have one of my SW 4516's ready to go in time to be of use. I honestly believe if someone broke into the house before we got Brandi, they could sneak up on me while I was working before I could do anything. That did concern me being home alone all day. I take great comfort in knowing this dog is here. She is VERY well trained and obedient. We're taking her to a professional command & obedience dog training next month which will run for a couple of weeks for 4 days a week, 2 hours a day. My wife is taking her, hehe.
Our deck did not have stairs going down to my fenced in back yard, which has always been a pain in the ass. Getting the dog gave me an excuse to get stairs added on to the deck. I hired
kippiepoo on the recommendation of
photognome. I wanted stairs that came down half way to a landing and turned 180 degrees for the rest of the way.
kippiepoo did a stunning job. I am going to have to post pictures of it- you should see this guy's work! Absolutely amazing!! These stairs are SOLID and the landing is really big and is a great place to stand in the evening after work with a glass of scotch to watch the sun set. It will easily accommodate 5-6 people side by side on the rail. I am extremely tempted to put a Koi pond just under that landing. It is the perfect place to put one. Yeah so what if the mutt drinks the water.
I am expanding the deck over the summer and it's a no-brainer who's going to do the work!
