So I went to David's Bridal yesterday to try on dresses.
There were only two dresses in plus sizes that were not 20 gazillion yards of poofiness. One of them was this weird, bunched up little retro thing that was more cocktail dress than wedding dress. The other was a tea length (yay), a-line (yay), lace and beadwork affair (boo). So, essentially, I tried on only two dresses I'd consider and only one of them was wedding-ish at all.
Today, I adventured through etsy, investigating plus size custom wedding dresses. I keep coming back to 1950s inspired things. The waist line suits me.
Photos of the only dress that's really worth considering shall come when I find the usb cable for my camera. That'd be handy, right?
On the other wedding front, aka Brandon's wedding where I'm the best ma'am, I've ordered my dress, and the obi-inspired belt to snaz it up. I'm working on the petticoat and the shoes. I've found the shoes I want, but I'm agonizing over spending $10 more on the shoes than the dress. I'm not a big fan of shoes. I find shoes I like visually, but they don't feel good on my feet, so the whole process of "cute shoes" is very off putting and frustrating. And, I'm a cheap mofo so if I can't find it at Payless, I often just go, "Why would I pay $60 for shoes?"
waaaaaah expensive things,
shoes,
