Day two, June 26th

Jul 08, 2005 21:16

I wound up getting a few hours of sleep last night, and everything was a lot better today. People looked pretty normal on the streets, so I feel quite a bit more comfortable. I checked out the rail station and a lot of the city this morning. I picked up some good things at the grocery store & scoped out a lot of souveniers, but I don't need to start accumulating before I've settled into St Anne's. I wandered a lot & found many gardens & nice residential areas. After 3 1/2 hours, I had to crash & have a bite to eat.
Everyone seems really nice here at the hostel, but I'm not into socializing as they are. It seems some people almost live here. Oh, and they closed the bathrooms today, so I have to use the men's. It doesn't bother me, but from the looks I get, I don't think the guys know about the situation. It's just nice to have a bed & place to leave stuff. I got up to see how far St Anne's is from the Hostel this afternoon. It's 15 min, so I should be fine on the shlepping end of the scale. It might spark another journal entry, though.
I feel like I@m wasting time, sitting in here, reading & napping. But, I guess that's the reason I came a couple days early - to adjust. Well, as Col Davis would say, tomorrow I'll finally be "on to Oxford."
