There's so much hate for the Philippines right now. I am appalled, needless to say, yet I can't really say that this was unexpected. Flags today are at half mast, which should have happened yesterday, in my opinion. It doesn't give a good impression of our grief to the world.

It's a job, a cutthroat competitive one, what can you do. And like I told my mom, I don't want a culture of news blackout, it WILL be abused. I hoped the police had asked them NICELY to cooperate with a strategy, instead of bullying them to submission. I also wished that calmer heads in the higher-ups of both stations talked with the police.

Yeah it's a job, and anyone would want to deserve their hard earned pay. I agree na the police could have done something to influence the amount of media coverage. But regardless, if the media were true to their promise of giving public service, they would have thought twice with what was the ultimate greater good in that situation - to get a good scoop or to exercise restraint in an extremely hostile situation.

And sadly we didn't have calm heads nung Monday. It's like the people who mattered suddenly became hopelessly stupid.
