Exercising tact

The past two days were interesting. There's this girl, who is a front liner in this office (let's say that this office is the most visible, especially to outsiders) who irked one of my co-officers. She was very tactless, like she had no respect for that co-officer of mine, who's an administrator of the school. My co-officer had words with the girl, and she ... well ... came out of the office in tears.

If that wasn't enough, she had an encounter with another co-worker, and that co-worker had extreme words with her (like, "go back to *insert previous company here* if you want to"), which reduced her to tears.

She then posts in her Facebook something very uncalled for that refers to the people in the school in a very bad way. It would have been fine, but it's not for the consumption of everyone. But what really made it bad was that she had in her FB profile her current employer, which was really STUPID.

I don't put my employers in my FB profile, nor have I tried posting in FB stuff about work that is better kept to myself. It's well, for me, plain common sense.

So, some of the people in the office showed it to me (on account of the fact that I'm in Marketing), so I screencapped the status message thread and copied the text, printed it and showed it to her boss. So there you have it, hard evidence. The Compliance Officer knew about this too, and she had words with the girl as well.

It's just appalling to me how careless some people can be over the Internet, especially with their own employers - those who duly pay their wages and benefits. It's really unfair. I do post some pasaway stuff about work but I make sure that I friends-lock it, but more than that, I don't broadcast my LJ to everyone to start with.

If you think you're not being treated fairly, leave. It's as easy as that. You don't have to show the world you're pissed off and you want revenge.

And, for her to say something like that, against an institution like this is ... well ... *le sigh* No employer is perfect, but all employers have an image to maintain.

I'm too tired to argue.
