I think I've reverted back to my crippling addiction to Sims 2.
See, it's not so much actually PLAYING the game that I enjoy. Everyone who's played Sims realises that the novelty wears off the moment you realise you're spending hours coxing your family into shitting at the right time. Or sweating over the fact that the car pool is almost there and your sim hasn't showered yet.
No, no, my addiction revolves around spending hours downloading custom content just for the sake of downloading it. Stuff that I'm barely going to appreciate in game because I actually don't spend that long playing it. But the CC is just so beautiful I must have it. Especially if it goes toward making my dream sims.
As a pseudo artist and writer I have a lot of original characters I love and the appeal of Sims stems from that. I know, I know, it's such a "casual" game and my nerd friends give me disapproving looks for playing it but I'll say now I'm far from being a hardcore gamer. I'm allowed to like it, especially when it gives me the ability to model my characters. I don't have the patience to learn Maya or 3DStudio (yet), so Sims is kind of like the cheap and crappy bypass. And I get to play around with them so CHHEYYA.
It also helps that I torrented the expansion packs just then. Oh, I own the original game, but I've leant it to my friend. And I own Sims 3, but the graphics are terrible on it because of my incredibly outdated graphics card (and I can run Sims 2 on high with amazing graphics, not to mention it has so much beautiful custom content). I'll probably buy the expansions properly one day, when I have the money, but until then my characters are going to be cruising the city night life, cooing over their cats and failing at college on torrented games. :B
And making sims is just so fun to do... I like to think I'm pretty good at making pretty them, anyway. When I was in the jrock fandom
I made a Genesis/Gackt sim for my jrock family and was super pleased with how he turned out. ;;u;;
WHAT'S EVEN BETTER is that I'm on "furniture whore" mode and I found the most amazing site for interior design,
Reflexsims. If you play sims 2 and you want some mind blowingly realistic and beautiful furniture CHECK IT OUT NOW.
So, once I'm happy with my doods I'll get them to pose and I'll take some caps! Because I love sharing sim creations; so post yours if you have some. :O
