Well, today has been pretty crazy.
First, I washed my Wacom tablet pen because it was feeling sticky and I am super OCD about strange sticky feelings on my fingers. I do this every now and then, wiping it down - never had a problem. And because I've never had a problem with it and water before, I just dunked it under the tap stream for a moment or two.
Now it's stopped working.
Searching the internet desperately (navigating with my keyboard, no less. I use my tablet 100% of the time and don't even know where my mouse is) I discover that this isn't the end of the word. Apparently this happens all the time to tablets and if you let the pen dry over a couple of days they magically start working again (they work with magnets, rather than electronics, as far as I know).
So I've dunked it in a jar of rice, hoping that that'll absorb the water from inside. It's worked for others anyway, so we'll see.
The other disaster came later at night. See, I live in a lovely Victorian-esque apartment building with three other flats, and my mum and I are friends with our next door neighbour. She's asked me to look after her goldfish and her bird while she went away for the week. So I went over there thisafternoon, planning to hang out to keep the bird company with my DS and my mum's laptop (which I'm using now). As I came back across the hall to my apartment I realised that the old door had shut behind me.
With the keys locked inside.
fffffffffuuuuu---
Cue me freaking out and trying to get the door open with a credit card (didn't work because the lock mechanism is funky), a nail file and a paper clip (which jammed inside and refuses to come out, hurrah). But the landlord, who is pretty awesome, came over and climbed out the window of another apartment and into hers, opening the door from the inside! So all is saved, for now.
I actually drew something today as well... before my stylus died on me. .___. There are things wrong with it (like wtf is that a pillow or a sentient alien blob?), but I can't fix them, so whatevs. Have you noticed I like drawing and shading in blues?
It's of my brain baby, my OC Elepon, as he appears in a modern AU that my internet BFF and I were working on (her character and my character as a super cute gay couple). I haven't drawn this version of him for ages! His character comes from the novel I've been planning for four years, in which he's a 30 year old cynical/cold/sardonic piece of work, possessed and manipulated by a psychopomp/death spirit who lives inside his body and mind. This modern au is what I think he'd be like if he DIDN'T have a spirit inside him - still an antisocial jerk, but one with a total heart of gold when you become his friend. He's about 19 here and is still trying to figure out his way around life and his emotional instability.
Apparently it is best to do this when snoozing on the couch.
