I didn't tell many people about it, but I had some new years resolutions from 2008. Well, kind of. Many years ago, I tried resolutions, to varying degrees of success. Then Jujutsu started, and sensei wanted us to write down 21 goals for every new year (to comparably higher success ratios). I decided to reject that in 2008 as well, in favor of emphasizing dual states. I picked two ways of being that would help define my path. Upon reflection, one spoke more to the future, when the other the present.
I decided the words for 2008 were to Prepare, and Believe.
These words served me inordinately well, and I will keep them in the back of my thoughts, because I still like them. But it's not 2008 anymore, and Obama is already going to be president, so I chose two new words, again with a back and forth of describing the future, and the present.
2009 will be the year where I Plan, and Design.
