A good friend of my mother's had a psychotic break and attacked her with a gun yesterday. The lady tried to shoot her but my mom fended her off. My mom grabbed her and held her as she was trying to shoot and said to her "Why are you doing this to me? I love you". The woman looked at my mother and then shot herself in the head in my mothers arms right in the middle of their kitchen. My mother insisted on cleaning up the blood and brains herself. My step mother had barricaded herself in the back room and called police. The detective told my mom they found a suicide note and the woman's intention had been to come to my house and kill both my parents, then herself. My mother saved their lives.

I am paralyzed with fear at how close I came to losing both my parents yesterday.
