Summary: When the young crown prince of the mountain dwelling Mohe people kidnaps Goguryeo’s princess and sole heir to the throne, the last thing young Junghee expects herself to do is fall in love with her captor. Now she must face all the challenges that lay ahead of her as she fights to protect the only true love she’s ever known.

Goguryeo
Joseon Dynasty 386BC
Given the choice, Jinki probably wouldn’t have invaded Goguryeo territory to kidnap the young princess as a ransom. But desperate times called for desperate measures, and his father was a man of very limited patience. And so Jinki found himself standing in the princess’s private chambers, hovering over her sleeping form with a blindfold in his quivering hands.
But as he reached forward to blindfold her, having already tied her wrists and ankles together, there was a particularly loud noise outside and the princess stirred, her brown eyes fluttering open. Upon seeing the masked intruder, the young girl nearly screamed. Jinki was faster though, and he clamped a hand over her lips, effectively silencing her. “Don’t scream. Things will only get messy if you do, and frankly, I’m not in the mood to kill anyone tonight.”
Normally, the princess was a feisty girl who would have easily told her captor to go to hell, but the blade she saw in her peripheral vision told her that perhaps remaining quiet would be a better option. Lest she felt like chancing death. So she lay there quietly, trembling in fear as her world once again became dark and she felt herself hoisted over the intruder’s soldier like a sack of potatoes.
As they disappeared into the night, the princess could hear faint cries of “Your highness! Your highness, where are you!?” But it was too late. By the time her father would be alerted, Goguryeo’s youngest princess would be long gone.

Mohe Territory
Joseon Dynasty 386BC
Heavy pants filled the room as Jinki pushed into the young princess’ wet heat, pressing a kiss to her throat, directly over her thrumming pulse. Even after they had been doing this for so long, she was still so tight, so unbearably tight and it drove him completely mad. But Jinki lived for the feeling of her moist walls clenching around him, for the quiet little whimpers she would muffle against his shoulder whenever he stroked her in just the right spot. The way her slender legs would tighten around his waist and the way her small, slim fingers would thread through his hair, those were the moments that Jinki wouldn’t have traded for anything in the world.
Because in those stolen moments of privacy, she was his and he was hers. They belonged to nobody but each other. They were not the prince and princess of rival kingdoms. In those moments, they were merely lovers. Just two people, neither royalty nor rival, desperately in love with each other. And then Jinki would feel the telltale signs of his impending orgasm pulling at his testicles.
Normally, when they reached their climaxes, Jinki would pull out and stall against the sheets, but this time was different. This time the princess kept her legs tight around his waist and held him deep inside of her as he spilled, coating her walls with his seed. It took a moment for Jinki to come down from his high, and his voice was raspy at best as he looked down at the princess in complete shock. “Princess, why did you do that? What if you become in the way of a child?”
The princess cupped Jinki’s face in her small hands and pressed a gentle kiss to his lips. The smile on her face was so gentle and loving that it brought tears to Jinki’s eyes. “Please, how many times have I asked you to call me by name Jinki? You always tell me to call you by your name, but you can never seem to call me by mine. I don’t mind having your child Jinki, in fact nothing would make me happier. But how am I to be the mother of your child when you can’t even address me properly?”
She was right, he knew she was. They had been together so many times now, but he still didn’t have the courage to call her by her given name. Mostly because he felt like he didn’t have the right to. He had taken her by force from her home and turned her into a prisoner in his kingdom, so what right did he have? In his mind, none whatsoever. But that was what she wanted, and if there was any possibility that she was carrying his child, there was nothing he wouldn’t do for her. Starting with calling her by her given name while they were in private. “Junghee-ah, are you certain about this?”
Smiling brightly, Junghee let out a content sigh, still holding Jinki’s face in her small hands. “There. That wasn’t so hard was it? And to answer your question, I’ve never been more certain about anything in my life.”
Chuckling softly, Jinki slid off of her and flipped onto his back with Junghee tucked into his side. When the young princess reached up to brush a stray lock of hair from his eyes, Jinki caught sight of the dark bruise marring her small wrist and suddenly he was overcome with guilt. With a heavy sigh, he caught Junghee’s wrist gently and brought it to his mouth. He kissed the rope burns gently and then lay their clasped hands over his heart, pressing a kiss to Junghee’s forehead.
Junghee knew exactly why Jinki was handling her with such tenderness and peppered kisses along his sharp jawline in response. “It’s alright Jinki. You know that I’ve never blamed you one bit.”
Though she probably should have. After all, he was the one doling out the abuse and then applying the medicine as soon as it was over. Looking from the outside, the relationship Junghee shared with her captor would be considered completely disturbing.
Because Jinki was the crown prince of the Mohe kingdom, he had been charged with the duty of “caring” for their “guest”. When she had first come to the capital village, Junghee was kept in a roped off chamber near the prince’s quarters on the main grounds. Guarded by Mohe soldiers who completely disregarded her status as a Goguryeo princess, Junghee suffered. Her first few days there, Junghee had refused to eat or drink any water. But the soldiers knew they couldn’t very well negotiate with a dead hostage, so they slapped her around and forced the food and water down her throat. Better beaten and alive, then dead. What happened next was still fresh in Junghee’s mind.
One of the soldiers in charge had broken away to report to Jinki the news of the uncooperative prisoner. Being that he was the one in charge of her welfare while she was with them, Jinki decided that he had best pay the girl a visit, lest she perish on his watch and the moment he set foot into the chamber not quite fit for inhabitants, the young prince’s blood boiled over.
A swift kick to the side sent one of the guards tumbling to the ground, while the other literally clambered to his knees, shaking in fear. He screamed at them for manhandling the princess and Junghee watched with wide eyes as he produced a sword and held it to the trembling soldier’s neck, snarling. “Her being our hostage does not negate her status as a princess. Even if she is in our territory, she is still a Goguryeo princess and you will treat her with the utmost respect in accordance with her title or I will have your head. Understand?”
The icy stare and dead-calm way in which he had spoken sent a cold chill up Junghee’s spine. It was frightening, and Junghee could feel her self shaking even though she wasn’t the one he had lashed out at. But then, as Jinki redirected his gaze towards her, something changed and he was no longer the frighteningly angry man he had been not ten seconds ago. His shoulders sagged and there was warmth in his eyes as he stared at her dishevled appearance.
Under his stare, Junghee felt dirty. Her hair was no longer neat and pulled back, but hung in large strands around her face, a face caked with dirt and smeared with the porridge they had tried to shove down her throat. Her clothes, torn in several places and no longer suitable for wear, hung loosely off of her petite frame, revealing a bare shoulder and a small gash on a rather slender neck.
As if sensing her fear, Jinki simply crouched a few inches away from her and used his forefinger to gently lift her chin up and allow a better view of Junghee’s face. “Kai, send for Luna will you? Tell her to prepare a bath and fresh clothes for the princess. And when she’s done, escort her highness to my chambers.”
A young boy dressed in black robes, who looked no more than 15, bowed at a perfect 90 degree angle and then disappeared from the room.
Junghee’s quiet breathing told Jinki that she had fallen asleep, and as he lay awake the memories of that day played in his mind. He smiled fondly at the girl in his arms, remembering just how shy she had been when she had arrived in his chambers after her bath.
The doors slid open and the princess entered the room slowly as the door slid shut behind her. Post bath, she looked much more like the princess that she was. Donning the fine silk gown that his late sister could no longer use, Jinki couldn’t help but notice just how beautiful the Goguryeo princess truly was.
Her hair had been done in the traditional style of an unwed Goguryeo princess, pulled back into a half ponytail and braided with a red silk ribbon to keep it in place. With her dark ebony hair tied back and cascading down her back, Jinki’s eyes found the slender neck he had seen before, noting that just beneath it lay a very pretty collarbone. Because the dress Junghee was wearing had originally been designed for a rather flat chested 16 year old girl, it put great emphasis on the rather ample breasts peaking over the low neck of the gown. The golden corset type belt emphasized the princess’ tiny waist and wide hips, ideal for childbirth. And Jinki realized that he had been wrong to refer to her as a girl all this time. She was not a girl, she was a woman, and a very well endowed one that that.
She was shy though, that much he could tell from one look into her soft brown eyes. But where she was shy, she was also defiant and he could see the challenging look lingering just behind the fear in her eyes. He knew that in her mind he was the enemy, the horrible man who had taken her from her home against her will. But in a place so resolute in killing her, he was going to be her only comrade, and only he would be able to save her. Though he had to make her see it first.
Offering an assuring smile, Jinki sat down at the table covered in food and patted the chair next to him. “Your highness, come, sit. You must be famished.”
He could tell she was nervous and frightened, but he had hoped that her hunger would win over her other emotions. So he raised his hands in submission. “I won’t lay a hand on you without your permission princess, I’ll just sit here like a good little prince, I promise. But if you intend to return home to your people, it would greatly benefit your plan to eat something before you perish in enemy territory.”
Jinki smiled triumphantly as the princess made her way over to the table and sat in the empty chair next to his. He watched as she quietly picked up her spoon and hesitantly ate a spoonful of the porridge he’d had one of his many ladies in waiting bring to his chambers. “Is it to your liking princess? Shall I have the maids bring something else for you instead?”
Junghee shook her head and continued to eat from her bowl of porridge. But Jinki saw her secretly eyeing the various side dishes and chunks of meat that had been set out. With an amused smile, Jinki picked up his bronze chopsticks and placed a piece of grilled beef onto the princess’ wooden spoon. She looked at him curiously. “Go ahead, eat to your hearts content. I had my supper already, and besides, these were made specially for you by the Goguryeo cook living on the royal grounds.”
Just like that they had bonded over a simple meal and a secret affair was born. In the public eye, Junghee was merely the prince’s concubine. But those living on royal grounds, especially within the walls of the royal palace, knew better. Even Jinki himself knew that things couldn’t continue the way they were going for much longer. After all, he was the prince and his father expected him to produce a son by year’s end. Which in all likelihood meant that he would be marrying whichever girl his father deemed suitable by royal standard. Unless Jinki could find a suitor himself.
And then Junghee’s voice pulled him out of his thoughts. “What has my prince so distracted?”
Jinki smiled lovingly at the princess and pressed a quick kiss to the tip of her petite nose. “I thought you were asleep this whole time, Junghee-ah.”
Junghee merely smiled and tilted her chin upwards to catch the prince’s lips in a gentle kiss. “I was merely resting my eyes. Will you tell me what you were thing about so deeply?”
The young prince paused for a moment and pursed his lips in thought, subconsciously running his hand through Junghee’s hair. “Junghee-ah.”
Junghee looked at her lover expectantly. “Yes, Your Highness?”
Jinki continued to run his hand through the princess’ ebony locks. “If there was a way for you to return home, would you do it?”
“Is that what you’ve been thinking so deeply about?” Jinki nodded, and then it was his turn to look at her expectantly. “Well, if it means returning to my family and my people, then I suppose I would.”
The prince considered the answer he was given, and then posed another question. “Even if it meant that you would no longer be returning as a princess of Goguryeo?”
The princess tilted her head in confusion. “What do you mean? Why wouldn’t I return as a princess of Goguryeo?”
Jinki leaned down and captured Junghee’s swollen lips in a tender kiss. It was now or never. “Marry me, Princess. Marry me and I will return you to your home.”
