Well, I don't have much time... I am paying for internet access by the minute it seems, and that makes thoughtful writing difficult. Please bare with...
As some know, I am in Edinburgh, staying with a friend of mine. I have had to remark on how different things are when you are actually concerned with things like financial security, versus just being a student. Like when I lived in Vienna, financial woes are never far from my mind, and it colors much of the otherwise enjoyable time I am having. When I return stateside, I know I will have to fling myself into some financially uplifting endeavor. The business is nice, but I'm digging a big hole here.
Things are very different here. The longer I stay, the more I notice. Hell, Edinburgh people speak in Scotch, something they say is actually a language rather than just a twisted bastardization of English. I don't know, I am no linguist, but I do realize that in some cases, often I think I understood the german in Vienna better than the 'english' spoken here. At least I can read the signs though. :)
Otherwise, things are ok. Since I don't have a ready made friend base in Edinburgh like I did on my other visits to foreign countries, I've not been out as much as normal. However, I have done some cool stuff. I went to a writer's reading for the this local writer's group that was very funny and very cool (halloween themed). Kind of group I'd like to join if I were living here.
Well, my time is almost up, so I must be off. Farewell for now.
