Well, yesterday being Sunday and all, it was a bit more relaxed than our other two days. We sought out some goth clothing stores, which were 'eh'. Then we went up to Alberta, a place described as "up and coming" to us. By that, they mean there is really practically nothing there now. There was a decent enough Cyber Cafe there, but otherwise it was no Hawthorne.
We went back to the room. We were both really tired at this point. The week of walking miles and miles caught up with us. So we chilled out for awhile until hearing from one of Moriarty6's contacts, Karzon. We were going to meet him at a coffee shop after he had had dinner. So we went to China Town and had dinner (which was also 'eh') and then waited for his call.
Finally met him at this cool coffee shop... a large home that had been converted into a coffee shop. If you drove by it on the street, you wouldn't notice it at all. The inside reminded me of some more modern attempt at a small 'antibellum' style house, with a large open entry hall, a large meeting room to both sides (with tables for customers now).
Talking to Karzon about the job prospects was a bit distressing. It seems my best chance at a job will either be data entry, or writing erotica for the burgeoning adult industry in Portland. He even has some contacts he could set me up with.
Hum....
After that, we went back to the room and watched some TV while we waited for the clubs to start. Finally we made it to the Hive, a goth night in the Crystal. Having been to Goth clubs all over the world, the space was uninspiring. However, the crowd was fairly energetic for a Sunday night and the DJ played some really good music, so I would definately go back.
Around 2 in the morning, Moriarty6 and I walked the long 24 blocks or so back to our motel, all the while confronting the demons of age and expectation, while we looked out on the night sky line of Portland from the bridge. I don't know where this will all take us, but its certainly been an interesting journey.
