A Note and a Drink

Apr 23, 2010 16:15

Jesus, I totally forgot that I wrote this. I wrote it way back in January, right after the last Dr Who.

Title: A Note and a Drink
Chapter: 1/1
Author: Griffin Aki Maxwell
Fandom: Doctor Who/ Torchwood
Pairing: Jack/Ianto
Rating: Pg
Summery: My rewriting of one of the end scenes of End of Time. The Doctor gives Jack something better than a date.
Warnings: Spoilers for CoE and EoT
Notes: I felt cheated after this scene, so while it’s still fresh for me I’m fixing it. I’m sure this has already been done and will be done many more times, but I still need to get it out.
Disclaimer: Not mine, though at least I know how to take good care of my toys!
Dedication: For Laura, Jon and Ryan; Thanks for making London even more brilliant!

Jack sat alone in the crowded bar, drinking down his fifth hard drink with an unknown name of the night. It had become his usual routine; drink, fuck, wake up and do it again. Anything to forget. He let the drink dull his senses and the music wipe away his thoughts. It wasn’t working well that night; his bad mood was not lifting. He couldn’t even laugh at the Adipose that fell off the bar.

His desperate attempt not to think was interrupted by the bartender placing a folded piece of paper in front of him. Jack looked at him. “From the man over there,” was the only response he got. He looked up and let his eyes focus, not sure if he was seeing what his mind was telling him. When he realized who it really was he sat up straight, nearly at attention. At a nod from the Doctor he picked up the paper and read the words written on it.

Look to your left.

Jack looked back up and the Doctor nodded at him again. Jack turned to see the man next to him, his eyes widened. It couldn’t be…even the Doctor couldn’t…could he? Would he? His head snapped back to look at the Doctor again, who just smiled. Jack stared at the profile of the young man next to him for a few more moments before he finally grabbed him and crushed their mouths together.

“Do you make a habit of making out with strangers?” asked the man with thick Welsh vowels. Jack leaned back to stare. “Sir?”

Looking back in the man’s eyes, Jack was able to see the familiar devilish glint, proving the man was just teasing him. He once again turned back to the Doctor who gave him a casual salute, which Jack returned with his own formal one.

As soon as the Doctor started walking away, Jack grabbed the man next to him again, and kissed him, slower this time. “God, Ianto. I’ve missed you so much,” he said against the man’s lips.

“Me too, Jack.”
