Oh, November, how I loathe thee

Since when did summer start so bloody early? I can't believe it was so fucking hot last week.  On top of that, the air con in my classroom basically decided it was too hot to work.  According to the mechanic dude who looked at it on Thursday, that particular (old) type are not built to cope with days more than 30 degrees.  Ugh.  It was 32 degrees INSIDE my room on Monday and Tuesday ... just foul, really.

So, you may (or may not) have seen a massive sea of red marching on parliament on Wednesday - teacher's stop work (nice way of saying strike).  I went.  It was actually kinda fun - the assorted union nutbags were comedy gold.  I met up with Katrina there, and we enjoyed it together.  Never been to one before.

So, I have spent the last few weekends writing reports.  This weekend included.  The next person who tells me that I only work 30 hours a week is going to cop a good one across the back of the head from me.  I get paid for 38 hours a week, apparently. I am at school at 8am every day - I try and leave by 6pm.  TRY. It happens maybe twice a week. The other days I'm there til 7ish.  So, assuming I go by 6pm, that's a 10 hour day (we get paid for lunch, because we have to be available for kids/parents during that time).  Times 5 = 50 hours a week.  That is before I spend a full day of my weekend planning, so add another 8 hours.  And the nights where I bring stuff home, so being conservative, it's a 60 hour week.  And now, I'm writing 25 fucking reports, and have been for weeks. I don't want to even think about how long I put into those.

So, yeah - teachers are lazy and get lots of holidays.  God damn, by the time I get to end of this term, I'm gonna need them.

Also, VIT stuff put off til Term 1 next year. Once reports are done, I will be able to go back and keep working on that.  I'm hoping reporting will be done by the end of this week.  Hoping.

Oh well, back to work.  Happy relaxing weekend to y'all.
