So, yes, it was a really bad book (yes, I did read it and some parts I even liked) but despite that I am honestly looking forward to Beastly actually coming out next week. The make-up on the the beast is unique and fascinating and the casting is simply divine. Mary-Kate Olsen as a witch! And Neil Patrick Harris is good in just about anything. But even if all of that weren't the case, those who know me understand that I would have to see it regardless. My Beauty and the Beast obsession is pretty well established. I think that I have some 20-30 versions of the story as a picture book, and I have no idea how many versions I have for adults.
Also, so many of the YA stories that are so popular today are derivatives of the same myth, and I seem to be reading them as fast as I can. Come to think of it, that is the majority of what people seem to writing for teens today. That and Dystopic/ Post-Apocalyptic stories (another favorite). So, it is no real surprise that this is where my latest obsession takes me. It's just that there are so many other things that I really should be doing these days.
Like this:
- I really need to find a better job. I would like to do something that didn't bore me to tears or make me want to curl up in a little ball and cry. I should be reworking my resumes, searching more websites for jobs, networking or whatever.
- I should be getting a better handle on Garageband or Audacity, so that I can start looking for voice-acting jobs, so I can follow my dream of becoming a muppet, or the voice of a spaceship, or do the voice of a character (or seven) on some hit animated series like Barbie Sherlock Holmes or Disney's The Twelve Dancing Princesses.
- There's my Nano novel to rewrite. I have a plan to do it over the month of March, but why I don't just start the damn thing now, I have no real excuse beyond laziness.
- Oh yeah! I have a bunch of stuff that I wanted to sell on e-bay or Amazon or where ever else I can get someone to buy it. I am in desperate need of some major decluttering mixed with an intake of funds.
And that is just the big stuff. I still need to replant Bob.
