Women's Volleyball League Opening Celebration
- Boafied, glittery outfits. Lip-synched.
- "Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)" - ZOMG, I saw a HyoYeon fan placard! SHOCK! <3! And her name is written in orange! The fan sign says "효연하경"; Google Translate tells me that 하 경 = Summer Light. Aw. Anyway, "Genie" is one of those songs that when it starts, I'm not sure I want to hear it again. But then around the middle of the song, where the chorus is really kicking in, I'm totally into it and singing along. "그래요 난 널 사랑해 / 언제나 믿어 / 꿈도 열정도 / 다 주고 싶어" and TaeYeon's like "싶어~~" and I'm totally with her. <3
- "Chocolate Love" - Looks like "Chocolate Love" is now part of their regular performance setlist. AGH. The director cut away to another camera @0:33 just as Sunny was about to shoot a smoldering look at the camera in her face. I am so amused how at @2:09 YuRi prepared herself for the dance break, where she has the center position. Look at those coy expressions she's throwing at the camera! BOO @ lighting effects during the next part! No one can see anything!
- "Gee" - A little HyoSic @2:50. Are those two trying to be adorable together these days? Then a little HyoFany glance @3:28. =D THEN a little HyoSun @3:32! Sunny seems to be laughing for no reason and Hyo looks like she's specifically dancing for Sunny, ahahaha. (I see how it is. First you have to do a little sensual seduction with some private dancing and then they can move to a bit of slapping around. ROFL.) I stopped the video @3:33 to write that and Danshin Trio is filling the screen. I've always loved that "gee, gee, gee, gee, gee" transition @4:03ish and seeing it from the behind and overhead angle just amazes me at how well they've managed to get it down. So smooth. Yeah, yeah, yeah!
- YoonA doing the opening serve - I love volleyball. I'm not so great at it myself but it is a big sport in my family. So I had to laugh at YoonA's complete lack of serving technique. =D She did look cute in the uniform, though braided bangs NO. This totally made me want to watch the game. I love indoor 6-man! It's always intense.
In general, I love the side views that we got. It's not often that you get to see the front and back rows working like this: you can actually see how skewed some lines are from the side even though they look fine straight on, lol. Also, it's interesting to see the girls transitioning from front to back and vice versa at these angles. The outfits are still horrifying to me because it indicates a possibility that they're going to move more toward costuming for their concert. That tassel dangling from Sica's shoulder is so distracting!
In other news:
"Glee," I want my WAFF back, please. Also, I can't help but feel uneasy at the slight undercurrent of, well, woman hate on the show. Why does all the batshit crazy come from the female characters and to such an extreme? Most of the guy characters are like decent oafs but the women are just . . . jeezus.
"Top Chef," eeeeeeeee! That wink that Kevin gave Jen in the quickfire was so cute. I love the professionalism this season and the contestants' culinary integrity and decency. Competition or no, I'm always impressed that they help each other, whether it's giving cooking tips regarding technique or just helping another contestant meet the time crunch by doing little tasks. (This happens on a lot of reality competition shows and I'm glad to see it.) But also D: D: D: at the hairdos in the next episode. Did everyone go to the same terrible hairdresser?
Open Thread tomorrow: yes or no?
