Read this short story

I once wrote an FMA fic that was inspired by a Margaret Atwood story, but at the time I couldn't remember the title. I asked dien to remind me, since she had shown me the story, but I don't think I posted about it. I found it again in a lit anthology and I think everyone should read it--because not only is it fun, it's meta-y!:

well well..that had me smiling.

what a strange story..but not really a story..kinda felt like she was just talking to me..explaining things...a question I didnt hear asked.

yes Atwoods a bit dark..and I can tease you again on how I understand why you like her..^^

It's a mix of short story + meta commentary. Oh, the dry commentary. <3

Oh, I know why I like her. Ian McEwan makes my heart hurt so good too. *sigh*

Oh yes, some of us remember this entry :). Wanted even to leave bright comment there, but was out of time (not that now I have it lol). Because of The Handmaid's Tale Margaret Atwood is quite popular here where I live. Especially lately. Mostly used as kind of argument in not so nice discussions. What is very sad, because it means that a paranoia starts again.
For some reason I don't remember now I liked her Lady Oracle.

This Happy Endings is so much like her :D

Interesting. Heated feminist arguments popping up over there? (I'm curious because you brought up "paranoia" and I'm not sure what there is to be paranoid about.) I haven't read Lady Oracle, so I cannot comment. =(

"Happy Endings" is awesomeness. =D

oh well...no...if there are any feminists they rather try to defend what is left =}...
It's interior thing, so without long rant it is hard to explain, and I prefer to use this time to catch up with BoP :). Ok, not to leave you totally confused: Suddenly it is wise not to use your own mouth to say your own thoughts, even if the freedom of speech is guaranted. So not to be silent, old smart method is used: referring to other people's work while speaking of sensitive subjects. So during some public discussions you can hear many sentences like: "Enforcing this law will lead us straight to the vision Margaret Atwood showed in The Handmaid's Tale."
...so everybody wants to know what this The Handmaid's Tale is about. =>
