He used the GPS on Ben's phone to track him down, and once he was in the mall it didn't take him long to spot him in Starbucks. Sliding his hands in his pockets, he made his way over, standing next to him for a moment before kicking the side of the couch lightly to get his son's attention.

He gave Dean back a look that if anything, Dean had seen before. It was his face, but the look that Sam always gave John growing up when he felt that John was being unreasonable and overbearing.

"Yeah, well she's got Alec and Sammy. They can be her perfect little children that she wants."

"I don't care if you're pissed at me, or pissed at both of us. She's your mother. You show her some damn respect. You don't get to be ass to her when you were the one who made the stupid choice."

Ben snatched his book back, not caring about the spot. He could find it. He got up, shoving it into a pocket and then grabbed Sarah's bags so he could go find her and get away from his father.

Ben firmed his jaw, wrenching his arm free. "You're the one who's forcing me to make a scene here, not me. I'll come home when I'm ready to come home. Can't go far, since you've got my only ticket out of here locked up in the garage anyway."

Dean let him go, before looking back at his son. "Fine. Stay out as long as you want. Get gone for all I care. But at least give your mother a friggin' phone call and let her know you're still in one piece."

Those words there hit Ben hard and he lowered his head, the pain from those filling him for just that moment before he took a deep breath.
"So that's really what you do when you can't handle something, isn't it? First uncle Sam, and now me? You can tell Mom that I'm fine; and you want me gone, fine. I'll stay gone, but remember it's you who said that."
He turned to go, and when he wasn't facing Dean he could feel his strength just going away and he forced himself to just start to walk even if he felt like just crumbling in that spot.

The thing was, he knew that that wasn't what he had done with Sam. He knew that Ben didn't know that, but he didn't know how he could do it. How he could fix it. How he could explain it in a way that wouldn't freak the hell out of his kids. So instead of trying to correct Ben, he just swallowed it and walked away, hoping that eventually Ben would cool off and come home again.

When she heard the Impala pull back into the driveway, she washed her hands and made her way to the livingroom so she could hug the hell out of her son.
