In Which Alec Drops By for a Visit
Alec had a long weekend. He didn't really know what the holiday was, and didn't really care. It wasn't a major one so it didn't matter much to him. It took him maybe fifteen minutes to decide that the thing to do was visit his brother.
Packing consisted of rolling up a couple of clean outfits and shoving then into a back pack followed by some toiletry, his meds, a notebook, the chargers for his cell and iPod, his laptop and a novel. Traveling by motorcycle meant traveling light. It was a lesson he'd learned before he was even Alec. Way back in Manticore. He tried to only let the good or useful things from that part of his life stick.
He could have flown but he wasn't really a fan of planes. Plus the drive was only eleven hours. Not that much longer than a plane trip if one factored in how early you had to be at the airport these days. Also, it was only eleven hours if one obeyed the speed limits. Alec was good at a lot of things but heeding speed limits wasn't really one of them.
About nine hours later he was parking in front of Ben's apartment building. He pulled his helmet off and still holding it in one hand he gave in to the spine cracking stretch he'd been wanting for the last hour.
