An entry, omg! :) I'm glad it went so well. And hey, think of it this way -- you probably gave that girl quite a thrill, being the one person who could beat you out of everyone. She'll have bragging rights for a while. :) I'm glad you had a good time doing this. How'd the prizes go over?

Most of the folks didn't seem to care either way, they just wanted a chance to defeat me.

However, the girl who won the $10 gift certificate seemed to think it was a pretty good deal. Her comment was, "Hey bookstores aren't lame. They're pretty cool!". She even got me to sign the business card for the store that was included with the card.

That made me feel like a rock star for a brief moment.

Ooh, now you've got autograph seekers? Soon, you'll be fending them off with a stick. :)

LOL! You signed autographs!

(What were the prizes? Old store credits?)

I think it's great you went, I'm sure all the kids loved it. :) How'd Mary do?

I can't believe people can play all those chess games at once, it takes skill. & stop being a perfectionist, it's damaging! A perfect person is not perfectionist, which means you are FAILING. Shape up! ;)

The prizes were $10 gift cards to the first two people who managed to defeat me. As a result of my 10-1 record, I still have one left.

Mary didn't play me. I think she wanted to give other students who hadn't met me, an opportunity to play against me. Besides, I have a standing wager with her that she wins a draft set as a prize if she manages to defeat me in a 2 out of 3 games chess match.
