Chess

Today, I played a bunch of simultaneous chess games against the students of the Albany High School Chess Club.

It had been a while since I'd played some really serious chess games. On top of that, I went with the idea of playing 3 separate games simultaneously against all challengers (with new players rotating in once each game was finished). After about 2 hours of intense action, I finished with a score of 10 (or 11) wins and 1 loss.

The single loss came against a young girl whose skill I had woefully underestimated.

Part of me feels that I should be proud of my performance. On the other hand, my upbringing is telling me that I "got sloppy" in the one game I lost. I suppose, that's what comes from being brought up by parents who are always stressing perfection and improvement.

Overall, it was fairly enjoyable, and all the students who participated seemed to enjoy the challenge.

Of course, I'll have to remember to be more careful with my play the next time I do this. Oh and remembering to eat lunch before heading over would probably help as well.
