"It knows not pride or vanity. It cares not about your dreams."

I slept almost nine hours last night. Given how bad the insomnia has been of late (and mostly I'm just suffering through it without Ambien), that seems miraculous. Here in Providence, the day is overcast and wet, and also chilly (currently 43F, but the windchill has it feeling like 38F out there). We've had a mild autumn, compared to last year ( Read more... )

The only story I can recall having written that comes near fitting that exact description is, in fact, "Onion." So...I'm at a loss.

The other story spilled over from the alternate reality that's home to Hack!Caitlin. (We'll keep her over there. You wouldn't want to meet her. Plus that alternate reality's most famous porn star is Rush Limbaugh, so there's even more reason to avoid it.)

I do hope that "Hack!Caitlín" at least makes more money than me.

They pay in bent sticks over there. So it's not ideal.

In nicer news, last night I saw a guy dressed up Jack Skellington. (At least the dark clothes and the head. If the guy has shown up being 9 feel tall and bundled-stick thin, I'd've been REALLY impressed.) He and I were at a beer-theater screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas.

And in a simpler message: thank you, the both of you, for sharing the images of the waves. I'm glad the ocean speaks to both you and Kathryn and draws you to it.

This story concerns a young couple, the young lady is suffering some serious mental anguish and attending an odd support group. And story ends with an outrageous scene in the bathroom of her flat.

Sounds like "Onion" to me. I got nothing.

The fish eggs Spooky discovered among the rocks.

That's wonderful. Also the slope of light over the stones, especially in the last photo from Point Judith. Thanks for these.

A little more to brighten your day... The big Barnes and Noble store in NYC at Union Square has The Red Tree stocked as a staff pick, prominently displayed on the end of a row of bookshelves in the Science Fiction and Fantasy section.

Thank you. Yes, that helps. I wish I had the time right now to take the train down and see.
