"We go back?"

Jul 26, 2024 16:32

Some relief today from the week of rain and clouds. Yes, clouds in the morning, but quite a lot of sun later on. Our high was 86F, with a heat index of 95F.

I hardly slept last night, and there have been more maintence people all day (these working outside on the rain gutters and downspouts, making an enormous fucking racket right outside my office window.

More and more, near as I can see, both the Right and Left have lost all interest in the truth. Indeed, the whole concept of objective truth is being openly rejected in favor of whatever cobbled together nonsense and pseudoscience, revisionism and wishful thinking best serves a favored worldview. Science and history are made slaves to sociopolitical ideologies. Remember how that worked out so well for Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia?

Sorry. Too much anger, and I am not doing as well at holding it in as I did for a long while.

This afternoon's film was George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). Last night something happens that very rarely happens. Spooky and I were three quarters of the way through a movie before we realized we saw it years ago, then forgot. Corin Hardy's The Hallow (2015), which we saw way back in Aptril 2016. Anyway, a decent horror flick.

Snoop carrying the Olympic torch. That was pretty damn cool.

Okay, so...because of unexpected, unforeseen expenses, we may actually have trouble paying rent this month, so if you acn afford to grab one of the last sale copies of Viles Affections (save $15!), please do. Or choose from other books in the Dreaming Squid Sundries shop. Or Spooky's shirts. I do not want to have to resort to the damn GoFundMe again.

Thanks.

Later Tater Beans,
Aunt Beast
