"...where ignorant armies clash by night."

Exhausted. I slept. The more I sleep, the more exhausted I am. Just I as doze off last night, a storm his the moutain, the valley, and it apparently did a lot of damage all through Mountain Brook, Homewood, and Vestavia. Amazingly, we did not lose power. Cloudy this morning, mostly sunny this afternoon. Our high was 52F.

Yeah, work. Whatever.

At least UPenn fired Liz MaGill, and I expect Harvard's Glaudine Gay will be close behind her, Of course, they're only a symptom of the hate being fostered on college campuses by "progressive" politics.

Do please look at the Dreaming Squid Sundries shop. The very cheap $30 copies of Vile Affections (2021, SubPress; cover by Ray Troll) have been selling, and the sale will end after the holidays. So you might wanna buy now. Don't delay.

Below, well...it's a terrible photo. But it the skull (minus the jaws) of a giant ground sloth (Megalonyx jeffersoni, or Jefferson's giant claw, named for President Thomas Jefferson) from a cave in a Colbert County, Alabama. It was the last thing I prepared at the late Red Mountain Museum belore I left Birmingham for the University of Colorado in summer 1986. You're looking at the skull upside down, facing you, the teeth pointing upwards. The entire skeleton, along with several others, were recovered from the same cave deposit. It's about the size of a large cow skull.

Later Tater Beans,
Aunt Beast
