Provisional "macrobaenids" (339)

Very sunny today. Our high was 90F, with a heat index of 98F.

I was up at 4:30 a.m., and I wrote 1,080 words and finsihed "Black Water (Murder Ballad No. 14)." It came to 5,275 total. I plan to put of Sirenia Digest #207 on Sunday. I'd have done it tomorrow, but we were supposed to go to my mothers to do laundry this morning...and I couldn't leave the house. We're hoping for better luck tomorrow.

Tonight we get to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

I have been approached to write, as a scientist and science fiction writer, an article listing my ten favorite scientists and explaining why. It sounded like fun, so I agreed. But now...the list will be daunting. I know ahead of time there will be people who get pissed about who I pick and who I don't pick, but I have learned my talent is not making other people happy, so all I have to worry about, really, is me. That is, tell the truth, not some story that would appease others.

There may be fewer paleontologists than people expect. But Stephen Jay Gould will be there. And maybe Edward Drinker Cope. But I'm also going to avoid what might seem like some obvious choices. Is there any point at all in including Charles Darwin? I mean, isn't that a given? (I should have worded that differently. I didn't mean to imply Darwin was a paleontologist, as he wasn't.)

I desperately need to try and get more sleep. I'm starting to fall asleep at my desk on a regular basis.

Things I hate about TikTok #1,832: Having to ask, "Who the fuck is Topanga?"

Please visit the Dreaming Squid Sundries shop. Thanks. Also, below there a photo of the title page of the Appalachemys paper, because, like I said, unless it's on paper, it just doesn't feel real. Sadly, our paper describing Asmodochelys was a strictly electronic publication, which, to me, is not at all like being published.

Later,
