Howard Hughes and the Primacy of Paper

Jun 26, 2022 16:35

Another very hot day. Our high was 100˚F, with the heat index at 110˚F.

I spent the morning tweaking the ms. for Bradbury Weather. I'd meant to print it today, bu stuff happened and I decided to hold off on that until tomorrow. At this point, the ms. is 824 pp. long, 224,661 words. And I have laid in enough paper and ink to get the job done (yes, I edit mss. in hard copy). Then begins the long nightmare of proofreading and line editing.

This afternoon, a documentary on the lost Franklin expedition (1845), and the first two halves of Brian Greene's The Fabric of the Cosmos ("What is Space" and "The Illusion of Time"). Physics calms me.

And yes, I am afraid. And yes, I am angry. But I will not talk much about it here.

Last night we finished Season For of our re-watch of The Wire, and now we're going to take a break before Season Five to watch the new season of Peaky Blinders.

Later Tater Beans,
Aunt Beast
