Thanksgiving 2021

Nov 25, 2021 18:20

Sunny half the day, cloudy the other half, and we're expecting a little rain before dawn. But then sunny again tomorrow, though much colder. Today's high was 68˚F. It is currently 61˚F.

Happy Thanksgiving. And remember, kittens, that turkey has come to you down at least 231.4 million years of theropod dinosaur evolution. And it is not enough to say that birds are descended from dinosaurs. Birds are dinosaurs.

The afternoon's movie was my favorite Bond film, Sam Mendes Skyfall (2012). The remake of Casino Royale (2006) is a close second. And yes, Daniel Craig is my favorite James Bond, by far. Oh, and one of the things that makes Skyfall so marvelous is the exquisitely villainous performance delivered by Javier Bardem.

For Thanksgiving dinner, there was something special, conceived by me and executed by Kathryn - the Gobbler Cobbler. One night a few weeks back, we were lamenting not being in Providence for Fellini's Thanksgiving pizza. And it occurred to me, why couldn't we just do it as a casserole? So, we did. Ingredients: instant mashed potatoes, Stove Top stuffing, Boar's Head herb-roasted turkey (shaved), and mozzarella cheese. Ingredients layered pretty much like a lasagna, cheese on top, turkey gravy on the side. Also on the side, that really scary canned cranberry jelly stuff. And it came out near perfect, a crustless homage Fellini's celebrated pizza. Huzzah. Photo below. Before we ate half of it.

I had in mind to write something about me and the 20th Century. I even made a note: To the degree that I can, I still live in the 20th Century. But now I'm in a good mood, and bemoaning the loss of a saner time would only ruin it.

And yes, again, do please have a look at the current eBay auctions. Thank you kindly. Also, see our our cool shit at Red Bubble.

Now, we're gonna watch a documentary about the Go-Gos.
