I'm tracking Hurricane Ida on the NOAA website and trying to breathe. Because the world needs more, because the horror we currently have is not enough.
I managed a little work today. I wrote a little on one of the mosasaur papers. I read a couple pf papers about the structure of the reptilian lower jaw, paying especial attention to anything I could find about the functional morphology of the coronoids. I thought hard about fiction.

This afternoon's film was David Slade's 30 Days of Night (2007). It is not a perfect film, no. But there are some genuinely sublime moments, and the cinematography and art direction is often almost startlingly artful. And the film's vampires are quite possibly the most creepy ever committed to celluloid. And 2007 was a year that didn't suck.
I'll close with this photograph Spooky took for me today, because she goes Outside. True fans of The Wire will know why this photo immediately reminded me of the show.
