As for what I'd very much hoped today would be, it wasn't, and from that perspective it was a wasted trip to some nameless place just west of West Point, Mississippi. We found the chalk, but it was still far too muddy to prospect, and it likely will be that way for many more days yet, unless we get more rain, in which case, who knows. It was foolish of me to try it today, after a month of rain. Past Tuscaloosa, everything is in flood - the Black Warrior and Tombigbee rivers and every swamp and bayou we passed. But, I suppose, from another perspective, well, at least we got out of the house, and I'd never been to that part of Mississippi. And we were very near Howlin' Wolf's birthplace and visited a memorial mural dedicated to him in West Point. But I'd have rather had dry gullies.
