This morning, I woke at dawn, and a beautiful sunrise was just breaking over the mountain. I'm amazed I got back to sleep. The day was warm and clear, as if all those days of rain had washed the sky utterly clean. I think our high was about 55˚F. Currently, it's 47˚F.
For now, the interminable rain has ended.
I spent much of the day planning for tomorrow's drive to Starkville, Mississippi, where we will be looking at chalk outcrops just north of the city. And we spent an hour or at the Botanical Gardens, where it seemed like half of Birmingham had turned out, after the deluge.
That was today.
