I am very not awake. It's sunny, and currently the temperature is 73˚F.

Yesterday, I wrote 1,543 words on "The Dinosaur Tourist." The voice in this one is something a little new for me.

One of the surest ways to flatter me to is compare me favorably with David Lynch. So thank you to Alexis Kenning, a reader who left comments on Agents o Dreamland on the book's Amazon page. She also suggests that the novella may be the perfect length for me, and I suspect she may be correct about this. A short story can sometimes feel confining, and novels too often require that writers say in a hundred thousand words what could have been artfully communicated as a quarter that length. And I do mean "require." My contracts with Penguin always stipulated a length, and, if I recall correctly, it was always about 75,000-100,000 words.
