Grey, overcast, cold, rainy. Currently, it's 40˚F, with the windchill at 36˚F. Our high will be around 47˚F. There is nothing green anywhere. In Birmingham, it's 70˚F, and the high for the day will be 79˚F. In Birmingham, the dogwoods are blooming (or maybe they have already).
I wrote only 120 words yesterday. I went back and read over everything written so far, then wrote 120 words and realized that I was too sleepy to work. So, Kathryn and I went to the Providence Place Mall to see Daniel Espinosa's Life. A wretched film, all in all, and if my opinion means anything, you'll avoid it like the plague. Rarely does a movie I see in the afternoon make me so angry that it ruins the rest of the day and the night. Rarely do they leave me wanting to bathe.
On the other hand, night before last we saw Colm McCarthy's The Girl With All the Gifts, and it was excellent in pretty much all ways.

It is what we share in common as human beings that will save us, if we can be saved, not those things which set us apart. This is the deadly flaw in identity politics, it rejects our common humanity in order to place every variation on its own inviolable pedestal. Our strength rests, always, in the most inclusive set.
