It's sunny today. There are a few clouds to break that carnivorous vista, and the temperature's in the lows '70s Fahrenheit. I should be out there. I would be anywhere, doing anything, but writing this book.
I'm trying to figure out if all the people who spend so much time and energy online denying the human role in climate change truly mean what they're saying, and if they do mean it, why. Frankly, I'm pretty sure a lot of it is trolling, plain and simple. Sure, there's the scientifically illiterate, politically motivated slice of that pie, recycling the arguments and tactics of creationists and other pseudoscientific enterprises. No doubt. But I think a lot of the deniers are just the generic douchebags who can be depended upon turn up and say shitty things and affect outrage regardless the subject. Trolls. Some believe what they're saying, but most are just miserable goddamn wretches who feel a little less wretched by playing the Voice of Reason.
Yesterday I wrote nothing worth mentioning. I only slept 4.5 hours the night before, and I simply didn't have the energy. I sat here as long as I could. Then I lay down. But I couldn't sleep. So I took a shower and washed my hair for the first time in, well, recent memory. It was a fucking marvelous day.
Spooky made a peach cobbler.
Last night we drove over to College Hill for pizza from Fellini's. There was a sort of Kindernacht. Mini Reese cups and fruit-flavored Tootsie Rolls. Pepsi Throwback (no HFCS). Season One of Archer for the fourth time.
Later I played WoW for the first time since last November. Last weekend, by gaming computer went on the fritz, and it's gonna be a while before I can afford to have it repaired, because taxes are coming due, etc. In the meantime, there's Wow. Which can be played on my iMac. So, yesterday I loaded the Mists of Pandaria expansion, which Blizzard sent Spooky free (along with a free 7-day pass).
Jesus, I fucking hate fucking furries. The Worgen weren't ridiculous enough? We have to have anthropomorphic pandas?
Skuntaur says yes. Yes, we do.
But I digress. I didn't actually begin playing any of the new content. Instead, I created a new blood elf paladin, Salimah, and leveled her to ten.
Anyway...yeah.
If you haven't please have a look at the
current eBay auctions. Bill at Subterranean Press gave me permission to add
an ARC of The Ape's Wife and Other Stories, and now that's up.
Gotta try and make up for yesterday.
