My move to D.C. was fairly uneventful. I rode a bus from Hazleton to Harrisburg, then caught another bus from their to Washington.
The Potomac campus is HORRIBLE: ugly, unorganized, and situated in the general vicinity of a wastewater treatment plant.
On the plus though, we have a really cool abandoned infirmary across the street (dedicated 1954), a park (Oxon Cove) with a walking trail to Maryland, and MetroBus stop just off campus that connects to the Anacostia MetroRail Station. You can ride the Metro EVERYWHERE! Check out this Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Metro. And it's so clean and efficient and smooth! It's everything SEPTA isn't.
I got to see the National Archives on Tuesday! And I intend to hang out downtown the first weekend after pay. I intend to buy a SmarTrip card and keep refilling it. I want to see a bunch of things while I'm in the city, such as: the National Building Museum and Pentagon City.
The only downside to the Metro is that the MetroBus and MetroRail aren't integrated. You aren't able to purchase a daypass to use on both, you have to buy a seperate one for each. Kinda sucks.
On to TCU business...I've already taken, and passed, 10 tests! The program is OK. I like my fellow TCUers. They're cool. I'm going to look for a government job when I get out of here. Maybe Department of Agriculture or Department of Transportation. If I look in the private sector, I'm going to try Metro, AMTRAK, or Air Wisconsin. Free trips to see you in Los Angeles!
