Yes, well, here I am in Los Angeles.
We started loading the truck at 9AM on Saturday, but we fell a little behind schedule. Allowing for about 6 hours of travel time, G. and J. (my roommates) elected that I go on ahead and get the keys for the apartment before the office closed at 6PM. On the way I called the apartment complex, and explained the situation. The first thing that the woman responded with was, "Oh, that won't work. You all need to be here to sign the lease at the same time. I can't give you the keys unless everybody is here." That resulted in an interesting 3-way conversation with my roommates trying to figure out what the hell to do. Ultimately, we ended up spending the night in our cars in front of the apartment complex, waiting for them to open. That sucked. Then we moved in on Sunday. That, also, sucked. I never realized exactly how bad my back was until I tried lifting something. I feel like my body is falling apart. My back didn't stop hurting until yesterday. Ack.
L.A. is amazing, incidentially. So much cooler and breezier than AZ. I went out an got myself some 'interview' clothes, and took care of the necessary business associated with moving to a new state. I still need to register my car and get a CA state driver's license though. So much stuff.
I called my internship coordinator on Tuesday, and he promptly responded with, "Alright, I'll get back to you.". Need to admit, the natives are getting restless, not only for me, but for G. and J. as well. We want to start doing something - anything that doesn't involve us sitting around waiting for a phone call. Thank heavens for cell phones.
It feels so strange to be here... like my life has finally taken off after years of doing nothing. And then, ironically, I find myself doing nothing while waiting for something. Crazy stuff, anyway.
Well, I need to get some more things in order, so I'll sign off for now. Cheers.
