We spent last weekend up in Norfolk. Some friends of ours had got a free holiday by collecting some vouchers in the Sun; it then transpired they had a wedding to go to that w/e, so they passed them on to us.
The holiday turned out to be in a static caravan complex right on the beach. Despite my snobby preconceptions, it was actually quite spacious and comfortable (although the bedrooms were tiny). We took Jess to the sea for the first time as well, which was fantastic. He went paddling in the waterline, and every time a wave broke and the surf went over his feet there was fresh peals of laughter. After that we ran up and down the sand dunes together, which he also thought was hysterical. The combination of the sea air and exercise obviously tired him out; on the way back on Sunday he slept for 2 hours in the car (unheard of), 2 hours when we got back, and went 13 hours straight that night.
I did not manage to succeed in getting a bag of chips though, which was a major disappoinment. Going to the seaside and not having chips covered in too much salt and vinegar is just wrong.
We're off on a proper holiday as of this w/e. We've got a place booked over in Somerset for a week; that doesn't start until Monday, but we're going to head to Bath on Friday and catch up with friends/family around there for a couple of days. Then over to the holiday cottage. Al's folks have very kindly agreed to take Jess off our hands from Thursday-Sunday, so we'll be able to properly relax for that time. I can't wait.
