Jetlag Musings

May 26, 2013 09:02

Day 3 of jetlag was a setback and rather crap just like the weather outside. there were hail showers and it was just blumin' cold. So unlike the other days where I've been enjoying being outside a bit - Friday was a stay indoors and watch French/foreign movies thanks to the Lovefilm instant watch package. I guess I was still in EU film mood from the plane :)

Saturday dawned bright and sunny and warmed up enough that we built the new BBQ which arrived in a big box the day before. This took about an hour but the RTFM instructions were fairly good and with team work we finished just as various old WWII aircraft were flying overhead into Cambridge for refuelling prior to a big flying display day at Duxford...I must get down there this summer and check out their Concord etc.

Everything is wonderfully green with spring growth. I mowed the front lawn and gave the meadow a bit more room this year. I think it will look good this summer. I then intended to mow just a few bits around the back - bits that had been 'missed'. D had done a great job of doing the first cut last weekend ready for my return. The hedges had all had a severe haircut last year and this has allowed much more light and space into the back garden. I trimmed the edges and realised that I wouldn't be there for the next 2 weekends and so kept going. I ended up mowing the entire back lawn a bit shorter in the hope the grass won't get away on me while I'm away. It looks good now, with the benefits of last years feed and weed, clearly visible. I might give it some more actually to help clear the moss a bit more near the house. Sore shoulder - I always seem to over do it a bit on the garden exercise when I'm jetlagged, but it's all good and grass looks great.

So while I did the lawns, the boys jammed in the lounge. I finished before them and was able to join them playing Key's and doing BV's on Floyd's "Set the controls for the heart of the sun". It feels somehow extra right to be doing Pink Floyd stuff in Cambridge. We did our own version cos I for one hadn't heard the song for sometime. It sounded not too bad on play back for a first take!! And really nice to be straight into contributing to the music for Solstice.
We rewarded our efforts with the now traditional evening trip to The Wrestler's for Thai fud. Yummmm....especially good cos I wasn't driving and was able to enjoy a Yorkshire Terrier.

All back to D's after for more listen backs, PF @ Pompeii DVD, waffle and maybe old Christmas Lectures from 1974 via YouTube...but that might have been the night before, as I was fading away by then. Got another good nights sleep - waking at 5.45am with bright sunlight. I love this falling asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow millarky. Sure beats the usual few hours it takes me to get to sleep :)

So another day dawns and will be the first trip out to B&N's for a lovely roast meal this season. I'll get insured for the car and will drop all the cardboard packaging from the BBQ off at the tip on the way passed. Might be time to find a newer vehicle and definitely a new bike - get some exercise and make the Android App man slimmer :)
