So good, but so sore!

Thursday night we went to the café at OneTwoOne Ponsonby Road, AKL for a gentile evening of quality kiwi folk music.

Then to Waharau winter shakeup folk festival. Excellent weekend of folky music and silliness with around 100 people. Snoring 10 person bunkrooms with people who don't understand the basics of backpacker dorm courtesy rules!!! I love my earplugs.

Sessions on Friday night, then a lovely quiet singer/songwriter session on Saturday which had me go right through my lyric book. Some awesome songs were sung around the circle and new friendships made. From Beeswing to Chumba!

Final night I was so tired, but instead of going to bed early I waited for the second wind (I think I was jetlagged really from my nocturnal lifestyle). Spent most of the night singing stuff I hadn't been able to for ages.... found a guitarist who knew the same stuff as me. It was great. I contributed to a larger group sing session earlier on even tho my throat was on the way out. But it came back in the early hours and we were folked out. We turned to the Floyd, Led Zep and Roy Harper. Memory trips. one of those nights you end up chatting the hours away about life, the universe and everything.

Oh, Norge E came along too, so we checked out the Miranda hot pools too. Got back just in time to go on stage with my blind date group....dressed in old curtains and singing "Dashunts With Erections Can't Climb Stairs by Phil Barker". Don't ask really. Thankfully there are no photographs (she says hopefully).

And now, back home and one lot of washing down. It's time for bed. Well needed.
