Upfronts, ending with a whimper

May 22, 2010 03:02

So, I meant to type up this entry at least a day ago, or so. I just got distracted, and since there really isn't much to say about The CW's upcoming schedule, I didn't think a minor postponement would be a bad thing.

Since the little netling only programs 10 hours of the week, and they only do hour-long shows, there wouldn't be much to talk about even if they overhauled their whole schedule. But they're only bringing on two new shows. Though they are moving things around, so pay attention Supernatural fans.

MONDAY
8:00-9:00 PM 90210
9:00-10:00 PM GOSSIP GIRL

TUESDAY
8:00-9:00 PM ONE TREE HILL
9:00-10:00 PM LIFE UNEXPECTED

WEDNESDAY
8:00-9:00 PM AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL
9:00-10:00 PM HELLCATS (*)

THURSDAY
8:00-9:00 PM THE VAMPIRE DIARIES
9:00-10:00 PM NIKITA (*)

FRIDAY
8:00-9:00 PM SMALLVILLE
9:00-10:00 PM SUPERNATURAL

Yup, that's right, Supernatural is being moved to Fridays at 9. If this wasn't almost certainly their last season, that would be a problem. Smallville is also entering its last season, with a significantly reduced role for Alison Mack (Chloe).

The two new shows are Hellcats, about a pre-law student who loses her scholarship and ends up having to join the college's cheerleading team, and Nikita, which is a new take on the film, La Femme Nikita, though with no connection to the old USA network series of that name. The clip I saw of Hellcats was only of one cheerleading practice, which really showed nothing about what the show is going to be like. I'm sure it'll do fine with the network's target demographic, which I am not. Nikita doesn't look too bad, and could prove to be quite fun. It looks like instead of being someone just brought into the spy world, as in the film and TV show, the main character is someone who'd been in the world but got out some time ago. Here's the clip:

And that's it for Upfronts this year.

Wiccy flew down to Atlanta this evening, leaving me all by my lonesome until Sunday afternoon. She has the Dragon*Con staff meeting to attend, while I've got no plans whatsoever. I'm not used to the apartment being so quiet!
