start to have a conversation with someone about privilege who has absolutely no inkling of any reality but their own? who benefits from the status quo?
i ask myself this as someone who surrounds herself with blogs/writings about race, class, disability, gender, and sexuality, activists, and folks who try to live their lives anti-oppressively. It's much easier to have that convo with people who already get it.
how do i make an introduction palatable to someone who lives the privilege and has no reason or experience or interest to look beyond it? I'd say don't bother, but hell, there are LOADS of people out there who fit that category. and if the teaching doesn't happen, we stagnate and move backwards.
what are those baby steps?
