Love my gamer girls, especially ones that dismiss today's "holiday". I've never liked Valentine's Day, whether I've been with someone at the time or not. It's not an all-encompassing dislike; I salute those who can look past the artifice of the day and act on what they feel deep inside. I just can't stand all the iconic zombified crap. As in, the Zales Diamonds commerical that was on a bit ago that stated, "don't make the mistake of not getting her diamonds this year". Fuck you Zales, heh. Not that this particular flavor of commercialist brainwashing is really any different than the other 364 days of the year, but at least none of the other holidays or occasions are "about" love.
It's disappointing that a large majority of the people in this country don't celebrate the love they enjoy on this day because they truly wish to, but rather because it's an obligation, a social institution. The women feel like princesses for a day and the men are rewarded if they do well, penalized if they "fail". And gay men? It's basically the same but with more screwing involved. Well Greggy don't play that. Greggy would much rather surprise his significant other with something heartfelt on St. Patrick's Day and get rip-roaring green-beer drunk in a pub with him. Now that's true romance - unorthodox, sincere. ;)
