The truth?: They can, but they don't want to. They want to blame their actions on their feelings when really they don't have the self-discipline to realize that they acted out of turn or did something stupid or were stubborn or selfish. One excuse I can't understand is "I couldn't help myself" or "I don't know why I did it." These are excuses - not reasons. Sometimes, however, not being able to help your feelings is just a desire to be recognized, understood and cared about. No one wants to be replaced or duplicated but they want to be loved. People do crazy things when they want attention. Sometimes they'll blame it on you - just ask yourself "Is it really MY fault?" and "How can I help them?" Keep in mind that this particular advice is much easier said than done. Because it involves others feelings and it involves your own, sometimes it takes tact and care to deal with each situation.
I'm so glad that I was able to see you at Emily's party. I miss talking to you to. You looked great and you seem to be on a better track then when I left you. If you ever need anything, know that you can call on me.
