"when," a rainy poeme

when
when the rain is over

hush, hush, hush
when the rain is over
there is a space
there is a grace
we'll make a place
when the rain is over
when the rain is over

tingling spindly webs
fall over to be beautiful
all the dancing drops
fall over to be wonderful
all that's in your head
(is already wonderful)
when the rain is over

shush, shush, shush
we've been waiting so long
for a sign of sky
we've been holding so long
to this stopped-up sigh
shush, shush, shush
let it go now

all this time we've been
thunder against sound
earth against ground
and we've hardly found
ourselves here
(instead we've lost
here, so much)

hush, hush, hush
when the rain is over
to see your face
to feel your trace
upon this place
when the rain is over
when the rain is over

all my mind is waiting
for this storm to pass us by
all my heart is waiting
for this to be beautiful again
(all that's between us
is already beautiful)

hush, hush, hush
hush...

(we're already

beautiful)
