Tuesday I had the inspiration to host a "redistribution of surplus" dinner party. Wednesday I started the potato-leek soup. By 8:00 Friday, with the help of the people who arrived "on time," I had five courses. Didn't get to dessert, but Kaza brought strawberries and chocolate dipping sauce, so I was saved. Eighteen people in all. I've never hosted a party that big, and the last one that even came close was Beltane 2002 (anyone who reads this remember that one? *chuckles*).
I can't believe how much fun that was. The perfectly prepared eggplant parmagiana. The mostly lacto-fermented antipasto plate. The music! (Gary, Noah, Jeff, Ingrid, Kat) Everyone's smiles and the cross-networking. And Chelsea...
Ah...hm. More on her later.
Now I'm sick, though. We'll call it cold deficient large intestine caused by deficient yin spleen qi, and eat a bland diet of warm foods for the next few days with ginger and cinnamon tea. At some point I'll explain why I don't know what I'm doing with myself this coming year.
