the best is the enemy of the good (and other adages)

It seems that I'm rapidly coming up on another major juncture in the life-road, with the permaculture course coming to a close at the end of the month, and some internship opportunities opening up for me in the Applegate Vally to the west of here. Basically, I would be moving further away from civilization and the ability to communicate long-distance for seven months, and living in one of the most beautiful places in the world. This depends on several factors, and if a bunch of you told me you wanted to come out and help me squat the house down the street and do off-the-grid permaculture retrofitting and live like wacky artists I'd probably choose that first--I'm involved in a few projects in town I'd like to stick with--but it seems like more opportunities are opening up for me out in the country than here. There's no one who wants to squat with me, for one thing.
*pout*

I'm surrounded by good people, though. Jen and I tend to talk about many and sundry things while working on kraut, and today was no exception. This evening while finishing up packing the kimchi we went through everything from Carribean Islands and traveling in Latin America to wildcrafting in the mountains around here, and she offered this little gem: Every time you get the urge to say "sorry," say "thank you" instead. Try it. I find the idea rather inspiring myself.
